In 1979, the Animal Legal Defense Fund began its campaign to increase enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and sponsor legislation promoting the humane treatment of animals. The ALDF provides free legal assistance to prosecutors handling animal abuse cases and works to ensure current protective laws are enforced. Educational outreach, student ALDF chapters, and a dedicated membership base of attorneys and citizens fosters a strong future for advancing the interests of animals through the legal system.
ALDF Mission Statement: To provide a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system, and raising the profile of the field of animal law.
The Case Western Reserve University School of Law student chapter of the ALDF welcomes new members. SALDF members support the mission of the ALDF by educating other law students and the community about the ALDF and animal protection issues, volunteering with local humane organizations, and sponsoring animal law presentations and courses at Case.
Membership in the ALDF is encouraged but not required – those interested may learn about the benefits, download the PDF application and a submit the $10 annual dues to join.
